Volunteer as a Family-Finding Mentor
We are recruiting an army of volunteer Family Finding Mentors to help us help more children than ever. Our Family Finding Mentors get involved by completing the 10 week adoption learning experience. From there, they are trained how to work with teens using You Gotta Believe’s ‘Finding Families Method’, an evidence based practice that is proven to be the most effective adoption recruitment practice for older children.
In our volunteer program, Family Finding Mentors spend 1-3 hours each week with the teen they are matched with building a trusting relationship. This rapport provides a platform which allow us to explore with them all of the positive adults that they have in their lives. These constructive adults may be biological relatives or people the young person knows from their everyday life: a teacher; coach; friends’ parent; employer, etc.
